This was a fun one! And before you ask, yes it's a Pokemon theme. I know, I'm a nerd. But hear me out, this memory game was created using javascript! It keeps track of your lives, if you get a match wrong then you lose a life. It also has a winning screen! This fun little project was something I did in class when I went to PunchCode.
One of my duties while working at Prime Trust, LLC was to build out landing pages for their clients/partners. This website was created to show the partnership through Prime Trust and Legion. This website was built with Gatsby, it's more on the informational side of things with a little donut graph to show you some potential savings.
For this project I followed a tutorial roughly about halfway. In the tutorial they didn't deploy their project. So I took a couple steps further and went for deployment, starting with my Strapi server, which caused a couple errors to fire back. One of the silliest errors that could've occurred, took me forever to notice. My tags got capitalized when I deployed the server, so that was part of the reason I couldn't get my query to work. It's always those little spelling or typo errors that make you so frustrated but you end up laughing when you solve them. At least, I know I do. In the end, I used some SCSS to style my project along with good ol CSS3. The images are hosted through Cloudinary to avoid Strapi's cache breaking them.
So my mentor actually came to me with this opportunity, he informed me that his cousin's website was outdated and in need of a new design. I asked to see wireframe's or sketches, anything that could help me understand what they were looking for. He simply said that I could come up with my own idea for it. That's when the brain storm began. I head over to what her website was at the time and I started trying to think of ways to keep the original image of it but make it look like an updated replacement. I started off with little boxes on a piece of paper, original, I know! Haha. I showed him my paper and he introduced me to Figma. After watching him create the navbar I felt comfortable enough to do the rest on my own. I created out what I thought would work best with the website, he showed it to his cousin, and his cousin loved it! From there I learned how to use Gatsby's open source framework to create her website. With a little bit of bootstrap, some css styling with styledcomponents, and form handling through formspree Ana's Makeup Glam website was created.
During my time at Prime Trust LLC, I was handed a pretty big project, my product manager came to me and asked me to help rebuild the company's entire website. Now, this project had many trial and errors. From trying to use a headless CMS which unfortunately did not work, to starting from scratch a couple times, and finding bugs that seemed impossible to solve... This project soon became my baby, I would say I spent about three to four months building it. This was truly a great learning experience. I tested several APIs, trying to figure out what would work where, and then I didn't even utilize them. Huge bummer, but in hindsight, I appreciate the knowledge I acquired. I eventually got partnered with SoftServe and they helped optimize my code to make the website much more efficient. Now I maintain the website, updating content as the company goes through changes.
